Goal 1.6 of the Adelaide declaration on national goals for schooling in the twenty-first century (p.229) specifies “students should be confident, creative and productive users of new technologies, particularly information and communication technologies, and that they should understand the impact of those technologies on society.” The Melbourne declaration on educational goals for young Australians acknowledges the demands of globilisation and technological change and the development of the Australian Curriculum responded to this need.
